Longhorn specializes in the custom plastic coating of municipal water system and oil/gas industry products. Custom coating means the internal or external application of a variety of protective coatings to material that cannot be processed through a completely automated system. The majority of this material requires piece-by-piece attention throughout the coating process, including pipe specific tagging and tracking. Although specializing in custom coating, straight run pipe is not excluded in Longhorn's capabilities. Single random, double random, T&C, downhole tubing and casing are coated with the same level of attention given to fabricated piping.

Application and Products

Plastic coating (fusion bond epoxy coating) is the process of heating a prepared metal surface to a specific temperature and applying an FBE powder by electrostatic spray or another approved method. Fusion bonding, or crosslinking, occurs as the melting powder turns from a liquid to a solid. Crosslinking is facilitated by heat, either residual or during a bake cycle of specific time and temperature.

Longhorn offers a variety of protective coatings including commonly requested Corvel 1660 and 3M Scotchkote 134. Each is a trusted coating in the oil and water industries respectively. Other coatings are also available to choose from according to your specific needs including flow efficiency, NSF certified, and harsh chemical resistance.
